FAA Cuts to Close Training Center

From the Duluth News Tribune, we learn that the FAA funding cut will close the ATC training center at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie sometime this fall. Paul Turk, FAA spokesperson, calls it "entirely a budget matter." The article notes the closure comes despite FAA's concerns regarding a possible shortage of air traffic controllers in about four years' time. The article also notes the FAA budget includes about $9 million for a training academy in Oklahoma.
