Back in the Saddle...

... so to speak. Once more into the fray of a Monday morning's aviation/airport industry news cycle.

As reported below, the FAA is seeking comments on proposed revisions to the sponsor assurances. The deadline has been extended to November 8, 2004. AAAE is seeking comments from airports to aid it in its response, but also encourages airports to respond directly to the FAA as well.

Dubai (United Arab Emirates) saw the collapse of a terminal building today (Monday, 9/27/04), with a loss of eight lives and many more injured. MSNBC.com is tracking the story here; details seem to be sketchy at the time of this entry.

UAL has said in a court filing dated last week that eliminating pensions is the "best of a bad set of options" to see it out of Chapter 11. More here from MSNBC.com, and the Motley Fool asks the question, "Why even own stock in a legacy in the first place?"

Did Delta's last-week tentative deal with its pilots save the day? Not close, but it does help save the pilots' pensions, and gets them one step closer to being able to address the real problem - one million dollars in pay cuts the board is seeking to keep the beleagured airline afloat.
