It's Official

US Airways has filed for Chapter 11 protection for the second time. The company's bankruptcy attorneys will be in federal court in Alexandria Virginia sometime today, for one of the first steps (the very first one was filing, obviously) in the sequence that will, according to Bruce Lakefield, lead the legacy carrier out of the red and into a restructured existence as a leaner, meaner competitive flying machine. Articles on what was largely seen as inevitable can be found at MSNBC.com, TheStreet.com, and SmartMoney.com.
